Founder of Plaza pastry shop leaves 50-year legacy
Georges Zadeyan, who founded The French Pastry Shop in 1974 and helped introduce French cuisine to Santa Fe, passed away Oct. 9 at the age of 82. Even after passing management to his son Sarkis about 12 years ago, Georges remained a daily presence at the shop — sipping espresso, socializing with customers, and keeping a watchful eye on quality and consistency.

French Pastry Shop closed for two weeks to remodel
You may notice changes the next time you go to The French Pastry Shop & Creperie at La Fonda on the Plaza. The well-known restaurant closed for remodeling — the first two-week closure in nearly 46 years on San Francisco Street. New display cases, stainless steel refrigerators, freshly painted walls, and 54 wooden chairs and 18 tables sent to Albuquerque for refinishing.

Winter is coming, and restaurants worry about outdoor dining challenges
"If the outdoor dining option ends, it will kill us," said Sarkis Zadeyan, co-owner of the nearly 50-year-old French Pastry Shop. "If I can only do 25 percent inside, that means maybe 20 customers.
